There is a feeling, by many in today's society, that when one reaches a certain age and is called a senior that life stops. This is not true. Senior Lifestyle Trends do not stop because their life span has increased.
In checking with seniors one will find that if they enjoyed crossword puzzles, music, art, or any other activity when younger that they will probably not only still be doing it, but will also be exploring new opportunities in those fields. There are exceptions to every rule, but years do not mean the end of everything, they just mean that the person is more aware of possibilities.
If one checks with our government they will find many of the Senators and Representatives who are seventy to ninety years of age. They meet every day, take part in discussions, and are members of important committees. This is a lifestyle they have enjoyed for many years and feel they still need to do what they can to make a positive change in society.
Many professors, medical doctors, and others in the community are revered because of the work they have done through the years. These people are considered seniors, in years, but continue in the work they love and are considered young in their attitude and abilities. Their opinions are sought and followed by younger people every day.
As for physical ability, one is constantly amazed at runners, bicyclists, swimmers, and others who are considered senior citizens. These people have been doing these activities for years and are continuing to do so. Not everyone who is older can do this as it depends on their previous lifestyle as well as their physical condition.
If one attends a dance it is amazing how well the older people participate. They may not do the jitter bug, but they can waltz and two-step beautifully. Some keep tabs on when the dances are going to be held so they do not miss out. Many are members of square dance clubs and attend one or two times a month.
Senior Lifestyle Trends are often determined by the person's experiences, attitudes, likes, and desires. Being older does not mean life has to stop. It means continuing to do what has proven enjoyable in the past as well as to try new things. The trend today is to keep busy and think day-to-day rather than year-to-year.
